Copper River Salmon Burger.
...
Last week I traveled 11 hours, hopping three consecutive flights to reach Cordova, Alaska, a vibrant fishing community southeast of Anchorage. Over several days, I drank in everything I could about the region, a place where the people work hard but don't complain, where the summer light glows well past midnight, and where the wild Copper River salmon, in all their unique biological glory, fight upstream waters to return home, spawn, and complete their life cycle.
I'll be writing quite a bit about the trip -- about the salmon, the fishermen, the state's sustainability efforts, and the surprisingly diverse community of Cordova.
Some posts will go live here, and some I'll be contributing to other sites where I can reach an even broader audience. Stay tuned.
And watch... [with gratitude to Sam Fromartz of Chews Wise for inspiring me to make a slide show]:
